The Nordic-American Web Ring

This is a place where people who are interested in Nordic heritage can get connected with one another. It is a place to learn more about the languages, traditions, geography and history of Scandinavia. It is a place where North Americans of Nordic extraction can get reconnected with their roots -- learn more about where they came from and how they got here. It is also a place where Scandinavians can get connected with their cousins dispersed through North America, and see how we're doing here.
Web rings exist for the mutual benefit of all of their members and visitors. Joining the Ring is free and pretty simple.
If you maintain a web site that you think should be part of this ring, we'd love to welcome you in! Please read the guidelines below. After the guidelines, there will be a link to a form for submitting your site.
Sites that fit in the Nordic-American Web RingGeneral
Sites may be in English, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Icelandic, Faroese, or any combination of these languages. Actually, they could also be in Dutch, German, or Estonian. Many of the visitors to the ring will probably only speak English, so it is preferable if there is at least one paragraph in English describing what the site is about. Sites should include some original information that is not available elsewhere on the net; that is, they need to consist of more than just a list of links to other sites.Individual Sites
Home pages of individuals & families are welcome to join the ring. Your site does not have to be completely dedicated to Scandinavia, but it should at least include some original information that would be pertinent to the ring.Organization Sites
We would like to include web pages of Nordic lodges, fraternal organizations, cultural centers, etc.Educational Sites
We LOVE to have sites that serve to educate about Nordic Culture, Language, Geography, History, Music, Art, Crafts, Religion, Traditions, etc! The Nordic-American Web Ring will be a launching point for many educational adventures.City, Town & Village Sites
The ring includes sites from towns like Hendricks and Tyler, Minnesota. We would love to include more North American towns that were founded by Nordic immigrants, as well as sites from cities and towns in Scandinavia.Commercial Sites
Small commercial sites that specialize in products or services that would be of interest to those of Scandinavian heritage may join the ring. Examples of appropriate commercial sites may be booksellers, gift shops, or travel services that specialize in Scandinavia. Also, translation services or language tutors would be welcome!
Sites that DO NOT fit in this Web Ring
Most of this is probably obvious, but I'll mention it here anyway. This web ring is meant to be enjoyed by all ages, so nothing of an "Adult" nature is allowed. Sites that promote racism, nationalism, hatred, or violence are not welcome. Sites that advocate an extreme or controversial political position may also be excluded if we feel that it is likely that some visitors will be offended.NOTE: In order to submit your site, you will need to be using a browser like Netscape 3.0 or IE 3.0 or later. The submission process uses forms, frames, and JavaScript.
