Welcome
Welcome to Peterson Central! In the summer of 1990, most of the living
descendants of C. Emil & Hulda Peterson gathered in Minneapolis for
our first big family reunion. We all met a lot of new relatives there,
and we all hoped we'd keep in touch, but we soon found ourselves back in
our home states -- from New York to California, from Washington to Florida,
we're spread out all over the U.S.A. Keeping in touch wasn't as easy as
we thought...
Also, there are a number of new members of the Peterson clan, by birth
and by marriage, who weren't at the reunion.
So I've created a spot in cyberspace where we can all keep in touch.
Of course, not all of us are "on-line" yet, but as we get connected to
the internet, here is a place where we can get connected to one another.
What's Here Now:
This is still a "baby" site, but we've got some interesting stuff, most
of which came from the family reunion "packet".
For starters, we have the fascinating story of Hulda's
trip to America. With Emil here since 1912, Hulda travelled alone with
their eight children in 1916. Henry, who was 10 years old at the time of
the trip, also gives his
impressions of the journey.
Also, we have the entire Peterson
Family Tree, at least as much of it as I know.
Plus, we have a page
of links to pages around the Web that may be of interest to us, including
the home pages of all the Petersons who have them.
The "Family Room"
Much of the information here is available to anyone who cares to have a
look. However, some things here are especially for the members of the Peterson
clan. We keep all that stuff in the Family
Room. You need to know the password to get in -- if you are part of
the family, send me mail asking
for the password. Note: I have built the Family Room to take advantage
of advanced browser features. It will only work correctly with Netscape version 3.0
or above, or a similarly advanced browser.
What's Coming:
What I hope we have here soon: Biographies and "Christmas Letters" from
the whole Peterson clan; pictures of the reunion, old family pictures,
etc.; an e-mail and snail-mail directory for us all; A family cook book;
Hulda's poems in Swedish, along with their English translations... and
whatever else YOU want to see here.
How YOU Can Help:
-
If you have a home page, let me know, I'll add a link to it (and, you could
link here as well!)
-
Take a look at the family tree. If you see any information that's missing,
or wrong, send me the additions & corrections right away! We especially
need dates of births, deaths, and marriages, and information about previous
marriages for some people.
-
Send me mini-biographies and news of your family -- whatever information
you'd like to share with the rest of the Peterson Clan.
-
Send me pictures -- modern or old family photos. I'll send them back after
I get them scanned. It would be really great if you could send me photo-CD's
or even email photos to me. Be sure to include a description.
-
Let me know what you think of the site, and what else you'd like to see.
I'm maintaining Peterson Central, but it belongs to all of us. It'll work
best with lots of input from you!
-
Spread the Word! If there are Peterson Clan members you know who are on-line
but don't yet know about the site, let them know. And if you know Petersons
who aren't on line yet, tell 'em to get a modem and a web browser.
