Welcome

Welcome to Peterson Central! In the summer of 1990, most of the living descendants of C. Emil & Hulda Peterson gathered in Minneapolis for our first big family reunion. We all met a lot of new relatives there, and we all hoped we'd keep in touch, but we soon found ourselves back in our home states -- from New York to California, from Washington to Florida, we're spread out all over the U.S.A. Keeping in touch wasn't as easy as we thought... Also, there are a number of new members of the Peterson clan, by birth and by marriage, who weren't at the reunion. So I've created a spot in cyberspace where we can all keep in touch. Of course, not all of us are "on-line" yet, but as we get connected to the internet, here is a place where we can get connected to one another.

What's Here Now:

Family Tree
maintained
using Reunion
This is still a "baby" site, but we've got some interesting stuff, most of which came from the family reunion "packet". For starters, we have the fascinating story of Hulda's trip to America. With Emil here since 1912, Hulda travelled alone with their eight children in 1916. Henry, who was 10 years old at the time of the trip, also gives his impressions of the journey. Also, we have the entire Peterson Family Tree, at least as much of it as I know. Plus, we have a page of links to pages around the Web that may be of interest to us, including the home pages of all the Petersons who have them.

The "Family Room"

Much of the information here is available to anyone who cares to have a look. However, some things here are especially for the members of the Peterson clan. We keep all that stuff in the Family Room. You need to know the password to get in -- if you are part of the family, send me mail asking for the password. Note: I have built the Family Room to take advantage of advanced browser features. It will only work correctly with Netscape version 3.0 or above, or a similarly advanced browser.

What's Coming:

What I hope we have here soon: Biographies and "Christmas Letters" from the whole Peterson clan; pictures of the reunion, old family pictures, etc.; an e-mail and snail-mail directory for us all; A family cook book; Hulda's poems in Swedish, along with their English translations... and whatever else YOU want to see here.

History:

Peterson Central was originally created in fall of 1996. The graphics have been revamped a couple of times since then. In December of 1997 Peterson Central became a founding member of the Nordic American Web Ring. In April of 1998 I began an extensive revamping of the site, and finally started counting visitors. You are number 404 since I began counting.
